Library Program

Because reading is for more than just school

Low-income neighborhoods have as few as 1 age-appropriate book per 300 children.

In 2025, Urban Angels SF launched its Library Program in partnership with a San Francisco shelter, creating a safe and welcoming space where children and families could discover the joy of books.

The response was immediate and powerful — kids who had never owned a book were suddenly reading for fun, parents were reading to their little ones again, and the shelves emptied almost as fast as we could fill them.

By September 2025, our first library had grown to over 1,000 titles, with two more shelter-based libraries now in development.

Every book is donated with care, every shelf is a chance for a child to explore new worlds, and every moment spent reading is a step toward academic success and lifelong confidence.

Reading is more than a school skill — it’s a foundation for life.

Help us bring books, stories, and literacy to the children who need them most.

Donations to support this program are welcome year-round.
