Spring Campaigns

Every Spring, Urban Angels SF runs a special campaign for San Franciscans in need. Past Spring UASF campaigns included Pandemic Supplies (2020), Socks & Underwear (2021), Welcome Home Kits (2022) and Share the Warmth (2023). More on these campaigns is listed below. It is UASF’s first program of the year that builds on the hope and optimism of the season by identifying one specific way UASF, its volunteers and donors, can make a big difference in the lives of our underserved neighbors. For examples, see descriptions of our 2020, 2021, 2022 & 2023 Spring Campaigns below.

About the Spring Campaigns

March marks the start of the Urban Angels SF’s month-long Spring campaign to provide essential supplies to men, women, and children who are unhoused or living at the poverty level in San Francisco

Starting in March, UASF makes a special point to bring attention to the year’s Spring Program. Financial donations are used to buy essential supplies. Volunteers sort, organize and deliver the supplies to the grateful men, women, and children who are living on our streets, in shelters, and at the poverty level.

Our Annual Spring Donation Programs

  • Share The Warmth (2023)

In the Spring of 2023, Urban Angels SF’s Share the Warmth program provided 1,100 new, high-quality, duck down-filled vests to unhoused children and others from families living at the poverty level in San Francisco. Special thanks go to UASF’s long-time partner, In Kind Only for underwriting this program. The children who received these vests and their families are also grateful to the other donors & volunteers who organized and delivered the vests among the 13 shelters and after-school programs where the children live and stay.

Thank you for your support, whether you donated, volunteered, or spread the word! Every action counts!

  • Welcome Home Kits (2022)

40 lucky families moved from temporary shelters to permanent housing in the Spring of 2022. However, their apartments were missing kitchen items and cleaning supplies.

Urban Angels SF, with the support of its partner In Kind Only, provided each of these families with a Welcome Home Kit. Everything was purchased new from Ikea for $10,000.

The families were grateful to receive sets of glasses, sets of dishes, flatware, pots & pans, cooking utensils, soaps & scrubs, sponges, and trash cans.

Urban Angels SF received numerous messages of gratitude from these new residents who were able to make their new homes truly habitable.

  • Socks & Underwear (2021)

Clean socks and clean underwear are vital to the health & hygiene for everyone, especially for our unhoused neighbors who don’t have the luxury of showering or bathing regularly. Many diseases and other serious health risks can be avoided just by having clean socks and clean underwear.

In Spring of 2022 the donors and volunteers of Urban Angels Sf made it possible for 1000 men, women and children to receive these essential supplies.

UASF continued to provide new socks and underwear throughout the balance of 2022 when its supporters donated these items. Providing new socks and underwear continues to be an ongoing mission for UASF because the need is great and the benefit is significant to our guests.

  • Pandemic Supplies (2020)

The COVID pandemic challenged the unhoused population in San Francisco on a significantly greater scale than others who were living in safer conditions.

In the Spring of 2020, Urban Angels SF donors & volunteers stepped up and provided 5,000 face masks and 5,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to unhoused men, women, and children, and others living at the poverty level in San Francisco.

Based on empirical data confirming the efficacy of face masks and hand sanitizer in limiting the spread of the disease, there is no doubt that this campaign saved lives, kept many people healthy, and helped limit its spread.
